Meet Haley Lemieux, Your Virtual Bariatric Dietitian

After bariatric surgery, so many bariatric patients are left wondering: “Now what?” You’re given a packet of rules, maybe a quick follow-up appointment.

Similarly, GLP-1 weight loss medications (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Zepbound, etc.) are helpful weight loss tools, but can also significantly impact hunger and interest in food while you take them.

But what about the vital nutrition you need now—maybe more than ever?

That’s exactly why I started my practice.

I’m Haley Lemieux, MS, RD, LDN, a virtual bariatric dietitian helping women nourish their bodies, ditch restrictive diet cycles, and rebuild a positive relationship with food.

Here’s My Story and Why I Love Bariatric Nutrition

I’m Haley, a Registered Dietitian that specializes in bariatric surgery nutrition. You may know of me as @theguacwarddietitian on Instagram and Tiktok!

Before starting my practice I worked in various bariatric centers. I saw firsthand how crucial post-op support and guidance was for long-term success.

I've had so many clients come to me after surgery feeling totally lost. They were given a one-page handout from their surgery center and sent on their way. They felt totally lost and unprepared to make lasting lifestyle changes.

They weren’t taught how to meet their nutrition goals, what to do when they felt hungry again or how to enjoy a family meal without guilt.

When I started my practice I knew bariatric patients needed–and deserved-so much more.

✔️More hands-on guidance

✔️More accountability to keep them on track

✔️More realistic advice that actually fits into busy lives

So, I built exactly that. As a dietitian, my goal is to help you navigate your post-op journey in a way that actually works for your lifestyle.

NOW THROUGH ONE-ON-ONE AND GROUP SUPPORT, I HELP MY CLIENTS:

✔️Learn what, when, and how to eat after bariatric surgery

✔️Stop fearing food or feeling guilty for eating something “off plan”

✔️Create a healthy relationship with food and their body

✔️Lose weight sustainably — and actually keep it off, for good

Because thriving after bariatric surgery isn’t about restricting certain food groups or eating as little as possible.

It’s about nourishment, balance, and eating habits you can maintain for life.

My Approach — Realistic, Honest, and Kind

If you’re looking for a strict meal plan or someone who’ll scold you for having cake on your birthday, I’m not that dietitian. I believe in:

✔️Realistic guidance: Advice that fits your life, not a perfect version of it

✔️Honesty: No sugar-coating, no shame — just clear, compassionate truth

✔️Kindness: You’ve been through enough. You deserve support that feels safe

✔️A sense of humor: Because healing and growth don’t have to be so serious all the time

I help my clients stop chasing perfection and start focusing on what actually works for them long term.

I am so grateful for Haley and the incredible support she has given me.  Through her program, I have regained confidence in myself and learned how to manage life after the shine of bariatric surgery wears off--and am able to do so in a way that truly fits my life.  The techniques she teaches are simple, sustainable, and actually work without feeling overwhelming.  Haley is understanding and compassionate--she really meets you where you are, recognizes that life isn't perfect, and coaches you in a way that makes caring for yourself feel achievable and realistic. Thanks to Haley's guidance, I feel healthier, more confident and empowered to continue achieving  my goals.

Working with Haley since I was three months post-op has been one of the most meaningful parts of my bariatric journey. She has been essential to my success—guiding me, educating me, and helping me build habits that actually last.

Even in the moments when progress felt slow or the challenges felt heavy, she was in the background cheering me on, helping me regroup, and guiding me through each rough patch with patience and understanding.

I wouldn’t be where I am today without her. Her knowledge, compassion, and unwavering support have made all the difference, and I am incredibly grateful for everything she’s helped me achieve.
